“I guess humans like to watch a little destruction. Sand castles, houses of cards, that’s where they begin. Their great skill is their capacity to escalate.” (109)

This passage really stuck with me because it's true. Humans are always destroying things and death is trying to understand why they want to. It starts out small that's why he said sandcastles and house of cards and it would lead to something bigger. So it escalating and implies war. Death is kind of making fun of humanity and the need for destruction. I thought it was a good way to put it.

"The human heart is a line, whereas my own is a circle, and I have the endless ability to be in the right place at the right time. The consequence of this is that I’m always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both.”(491)

This passage really stuck with me. Death is not a part of it which is why he is his own circle. He can see different perspectives and see good and bad. Death is confused to see how can people be both. I really enjoyed reading this and there are many people in the world like that.
